All of us are journeying towards the heavenly Jerusalem…the happy day when we will see the Lord’s face – that marvelous face, the most beautiful face of the Lord Jesus – and be with him forever, in his love. (Homily, St. Peter’s, Mass and Conferral of the Sacrament of Confirmation, April 28, 2013 )
Loving God, in my everyday living, I struggle with the mystery of suffering, my own and others’. How can I explain or understand the contrast between the world as it sometimes is – marked by human misery, loneliness, violence, indifference or outright hatred – and the world as it could be. How I long to rejoice in your holy city, the new heavens and new earth, where every tear and pain will be blotted out in the light of your loving presence. Amen.
