On January 30, Jr. Vocal ensembles across the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board gave a note-worthy performance for the 5th annual Jr. Vocal Festival.
The show featured the talents of seven feeder school groups, which included: the STM Jr Knight Magic Jr. vocal group, the BR Jr. Xpression vocal group, the Bishop Tonnos Jr. vocal group, the SJB Brave Ambition Jr. vocal group, the Cathedral Night N’ Gaels Jr. vocal group, the Cardinal Newman Jr. vocal group and the St. Mary Jr. vocal group, for a total of over 300 elementary students.
“These groups were formed to create a fun environment for students as well as to enrich and cultivate a lifelong love for music while improving their confidence and personal conviction when they perform,” said Arts Support Facilitator Mary Tabone.
“Another important aspect to these groups is that it builds a sense of importance and connectedness to their secondary school.”
Performing to a crowd of over 600 guests, each group sang three to four songs before coming together for a collective finale covering 'We are the World' and 'A Million Dreams.'
“It is clearly evident that the arts help to mold students into creative, dynamic and confident young people, and this event will once again showcase how rich the HWCDSB is in musical talent,” said Tabone.
