The Ministry of Education is consulting with families and childcare partners to gather input on ways to enhance Ontario’s early years and childcare system.
The consultation follows the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014
(CCEYA) which came into effect on August 31, 2015. The CCEYA requires the Minister of Education to conduct a statutory review of the Act within five years of its coming into force.
To that end, the Ministry is launching two surveys online – one for families and one for childcare sector partners – to support the review of the CCEYA and to guide future child care planning for the province. The survey results will help the Ministry improve the system to better meet the needs of families and child care providers.
The surveys will be available on the province’s website
from July 7, 2020 to July 21, 2020. Each survey will take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. The surveys include a number of closed- and open-ended questions on various topics related to early years and child care.
Following the public consultation period, the ministry will release a public report with respect to the review once the feedback has been reviewed and analyzed.
