Let’s #GetReal about our mental health
During Mental Health Week (May 2-8, 2022), the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board is joining with communities and workplaces across Canada to celebrate, protect, and promote mental health.
The theme for this year’s Mental Health Week is focused on empathy: “Before you weigh in, tune in.”
“Empathy is so important because in Catholic education, we are called to be kind to one another, welcoming and accepting,” says Mental Health Lead, Michelle Hayes.
Staff, students, and families are encouraged to bring empathy alive with the people in their life. Be there, listen completely, and see the world through their eyes. It’s how to really help.
On Wednesday May 4th, 2022, schools are invited to #GoGreen by wearing green as a sign of hope and the value of positive relationships.
Let’s #GetReal about how to help.
Schools are encouraged to plan activities during the week that heighten awareness of mental health and its impact on the school community. The following websites are provided to support school planning:

In addition, School Mental Health Ontario has created Faith and Wellness: A Daily Mental Health Resource
which offers a collection of high-quality, everyday mental health practices to enhance elementary students’ social and emotional skills.
